| In vitro | Method: Dextran Sulfate Sodium Salt (MW 4500-5500), using Dextran Sulfate Sodium Salt (MW 5000) as an example, was studied for its antiviral activity against human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and its mechanism of action. MT-4 cells were exposed to different concentrations of DSS and heparin to observe their inhibitory effects on HIV-1 replication. Additionally, the cytotoxicity and impact on reverse transcriptase activity were evaluated. Results: DSS exhibited a significant selective inhibitory effect on HIV-1, with an IC50 value of 9.1 µg/ml, and showed no toxicity to host cells even at high concentrations. |
